Assessments

Assessments include a comprehensive bio-psycho-social evaluation, guided by the ASI-Lite framework. They also include the completion and interpretation of the SASSI-4 (Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory), a clinical diagnosis (if applicable), treatment recommendations, and—if necessary—a Statement of Safety to Practice for use in employment or licensing settings.

Who May Benefit from an AssessmentAssessments are useful in a wide range of situations and are often requested by:
  • Individuals seeking clarity around substance use or mental health concerns
  • Families or parents concerned about a loved one
  • Physicians, therapists, or school counselors
  • Employers or licensing/regulatory boards
  • Interventionists or case managers
These evaluations can assist in determining the most accurate diagnosis, identifying appropriate interventions, and assessing immediate support needs. They may also be valuable as part of a client’s ongoing clinical work with a primary therapist.

Purpose of AssessmentsAssessments may serve a variety of goals, including:
  • Gaining insight into patterns of substance use and its impact
  • Providing documentation for employment, legal, or licensing concerns
  • Offering direction during relapse, recovery planning, or early intervention
  • Exploring preventative strategies before a more serious issue develops
Whether the need is clinical, professional, or personal, these assessments aim to provide a clear understanding and path forward.
